Utilities

1.1 Renter Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of the resident(s) to setup service with all resident responsible utility companies prior to move-in date and for service to remain in their name until the last legal responsibility date.

If a roommate is moving out and the utilities are in their name, service will need to be immediately transferred into the name of a remaining resident. Failure to transfer the utilities during a roommate change will result in the penalties listed below.

1.2 Penalties

If the resident(s) does not setup service with all resident responsible utility companies prior to lease start date, disconnects service prior to the lease responsibility end date, or they fail to pay the utility company and that bill is charged back to Management, the following penalties will be applicable:

  • Meridian Property Management will bill back residents at bill amount + 10% administrative fee on each bill.
  • Resident will pay Meridian Property Management immediately upon notification.
  • Fine of $100 per utility company.

1.3 Failure to Setup / Restore Utilities

If the resident(s) does not setup service with utility companies prior to move-in or disconnects their service prior to their last legal responsibility date, they must immediately restore service in their name once notified. Failure to restore utility service may result in eviction.
